Extend your summer fun with the annual Arthur J. Ladrigan Swim Races and Family Fun Day at Bayley Beach, Sunday, September 14th at 10:00am. Sign-ups for the Lighthouse Race, the RCA sponsored tough one-mile swim from Green’s Ledge Lighthouse to shore, will start at 9:00am.  Next comes the swim race from the buoy just off shore back to the beach, followed by swim races for children, grouped by age, which run parallel to the beach. After the awards ceremony, all are invited to join in the traditional beach games which include a tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest and a treasure hunt. 2007 Race Results

It was a perfect day for the Art Ladrigan Swim Races at Bayley Beach. The temperature was in the mid 80s, with a light breeze out of the southwest. High tide was at 10:30am, hundreds of people gathered to either swim or participate in the festivities that were sponsored by the Rowayton Civic Association and June Anderson of Wheeler Reality.

For the fourth year in a row, Glenn Houck won the race from Green’s Ledge Light to the beach with a time of 23:07. Marybeth Osmun came in second with a time of 26:13 and Erica Merrill arrived third with a time of 29:29.

The first to finish the Adult Buoy race was Lisa Fancher, with Olivia Haskell winning the under 21 Buoy Race.

The family games followed the races; they included tug of war, pie eating, a treasure hunt and greased watermelon competition.
