History
Rowayton
Little League's began in 1959. It started with a double header -
teams/starting pitchers - "Rowayton Hose"/John Emig, vs. "Rowayton
Pharmacy"/Eric Wienola (We believe, maybe Fred Green), then "Bora"/Tim
Kipp vs. "Rowayton Fuel"/Lanny Openshaw.
Vinnie Velotti was the first President.
Rowayton Hose was easily the best team that
year, led by Reverend Emig's oldest son, John.
The Little League's predecessor, by a year, was The Community League. It allowed
slightly older kids and Tom Freston - now Chairman of MTV - was one of the better
players. |
