Little League
Already In High Gear!

Rowayton Little League is in full gear as it prepares for the upcoming 2010 season. While registration has passed and some of the older groups are set, there is still room in younger player divisions, particularly in the youngest group for t-ballers (ages 5 and 6). RLL’s Softball program is growing rapidly and any girls age 9-12 who reside in area codes 06853, 06854 or 06855 are eligible. There are still some spots available so please contact Roger Knight, RLL President (email: rknight@lakewoodcap.com) if you have any interest. Additional information is available on the league’s website at www.rowaytonlittleleague.com. In addition to game schedules and other league news, be on the lookout for information on this year’s Pitch, Hit and Run Competition in mid-May (open to all young players regardless of residence) and Wood Week, during which time our older players will play several games with traditional wood bats.

RCA Youth Soccer Volunteers Needed

Sign-ups for the 2010 soccer season will be conducted online as of June 1st. Go to the RCA website Youth Soccer page to sign up. Rowayton Youth Soccer needs your coaching abilities. Due to the explosive growth of Rowayton’s soccer program, assistance is needed in coaching and managing community teams at all age levels. For a couple of hours a week, you can contribute to one of Rowayton’s most successful sports programs. For further information, contact RCA board members Dan Scovel at dscovel@tokenekeresearch.com or 554-4621 or Andrew Schadt at andrew.schadt@soluxe.com or 853-9992, or stop by our booth at the Rowayton River Ramble on Saturday, July 10th.

Sports in Rowayton

Calling All Tennis Players!

The Rowayton Tennis Association (RTA) is gearing up for another season of tennis at the Bayley Beach courts. Rowayton residents are eligible to join. Adults and juniors can participate in a number of programs. The women’s and men’s field teams play weekly matches against area clubs. Head Pro Scott Whiteman and staff offer team practices, clinics, cardio tennis drills, ladders and private lessons in addition to overseeing junior team practices and their inter-club matches. Enjoy a Friday evening by either playing in a social mixer or watching Scott and local tennis instructors compete in matches at the pros’ exhibition.

Visit www.whitemantennis.com for the 2010 Spring/Summer schedule and to register online. Stop by the Pro Shop at the courts to speak with Scott or call him at 853-8842. Visit the RCA website at www.rowaytonct.com and click on the RTA link to download an application. For more information on the RTA, contact Pete Koerner at 838-1616 or at koerner1@optonline.net.
